My name is James Ballou and I have been a technical writer, instructional designer, and learning and development professional for more than 15 years. I have worked or consulted with companies such as Discover Card, American Express and General Electric. In my professional life I have created and trained courses covering dozens of subjects and conducted literally thousands of hours of training presentations all over the United States.
Over the span of my career I have become an expert in analyzing organizational performance and creating solutions to company skill and knowledge gaps. Many of the solutions that I create involve the use of technical writing as I create process improvements, training course curricula, and policy and procedure manuals. Because my skills are portable I have worked with an incredibly diverse clientele such as financial companies, fast food retailers and dietary supplement companies. I am the author of Soul Survivor (2008) available at Amazon.com and an almost limitless number of freelance articles. I use this site to write about the things that I am interested in and knowledgeable about in the hope that my understanding of various subjects is useful to my visitors.
